68How To Use StumbleUpon
Stumblupon is a great social bookmarking site to help you get lots of traffic coming to your website. It is a little different than most websites, in the sense that the users do not know what website they will land on next. They simply hit the stumble button and stumbleupon takes them to a random website.
Once a user lands on a certain page they can then give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down; they can also leave a review as to why they like it or don't like it. The more thumbs up a certain page gets, the more stumbles it will get. So it is very important that you only add your best work to stumbleupon.
When you sign up for stumbleupon you will be given the choice to download a toolbar. It is not necessary for you to download it, but it will make your stumbling a lot easier. This toolbar is compatible only with Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Stumbleupon allows you to check off what your interests are, and then when you hit the stumble button it will take you to similar websites. So if you like the news, it will take you to a lot of news sites, and if you like sports, you'll get to see a lot of those. So it is not totally random, it will be a site within your interest, but you won't know what the website will be.
Stumbleupon will only work as hard for you as you want it too. By this I mean, you need to be an active stumbler before you even submit your content, and then continue to stumble other people's websites. The more you stumble, the more views you will get.

To submit your content simply click on the "Add A Site" button and fill in the blanks. You should always write a review for each website that you add. For every page that you submit from your website, submit at least 2-3 websites that you do not own. This way you are not spamming the system, and you will get more subscribers this way.
Subscribers are very important because your subscribers are more likely to stumble across your content when they stumble, thus you will get more stumbles.
Other determining factors as to how many stumbles you will get are how many thumbs up your page receives, how many reviews, how many friends and subscribers you have, how many profile views, and whether or not these are well liked stumblers.
So you can probably see why it is important to be an active user. You will not get very far on this site if you only submit your own content, or do not participate on the site. You need to take the first step and subscribe to others, become their friends, and rate and comment on their content, and they will do the same for you.
Depending on how many subscribers you have, and how active you are on the site, you could get anywhere from 100 to 10,000 visitors in the first day that your site is stumbled. But the traffic does not end there; it does taper down, but for the most part the stumbleupon traffic is long term.

I've been a member of StumbleUpon for about three years now and am still not using it as effectively as I could. This Hub will no doubt help a lot. Thanks.
